Student salaries do not cover all the rent and utility bills students must pay every month. (More on that later.) So... students must work hard to get bonus money throughout the month.
I printed $50, $100, & $500 bills from MyClassroomEconomy.org. Easy!
I have the cash on hand and pass it out throughout the day. Sometimes I will explain why I am handing out bonuses and sometimes I won't. It just depends on the situation. Give a student $100 for a good answer, and you will love all the hands that start going up!
Keeping Track
My Officers help me keep track of fines.
I use the chart below to quickly record a behavior that deserves a fine. It is kept on a clipboard.
Later in the day, maybe the last 30 minutes of class or during independent work, the Offices will come check the Offense Log. If any of their citizens are on the log, they will write a fine ticket by filling out the ticket below and handing it to the student.
The student will have two days to pay the fine without penalties.
Added Benefits
- This log is great for RTI and parent meetings.
- Plenty of documentation for sending a kid to detention and/or the office.
- You can go back and show the student how many times they have been fined for specific behaviors.
- It can help students to see that a particular behavior is a problem.
